First Federal Bank of Louisiana is currently seeking a Payments Specialist at our Main Office, located in Downtown Lake Charles, LA. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM-6:30 PM (40 hours per week).

Responsible for a wide variety of duties relating to payments that include, but are not limited to development, review, and operation of, same-day payment processing, next-day payments exceptions, treasury management services, and customer support. This position serves as the Bank’s specialized payments support center, addressing complex payment issues that exceed customer service staff’s standard scope of knowledge and provides support and training for the Bank’s payment products.
Performs duties to assist and support all functions of the Payments Department.
- Provides escalated payment product support to customers; provides direct payment support employees
- Processes and balances daily payment exceptions reports
- Utilizes technology and numerous programs/applications within the Bank; serves as subject matter expert and supports payment applications
- Maintains teller and merchant remote deposit supply inventory to support departmental operations while maintaining cost efficiency
- Oversees treasury management services and vendor support for remote deposit, ACH origination, check & ACH positive pay, and business online wires
- Assists with ensuring the Bank has necessary controls in place to manage risks associated with all payment rails, including the use of fraud monitoring systems
- Assists with audits and procedures pertaining to operational area of expertise
- Assists in successful operation of the Bank's payment products and services by following written policies and procedures; stays up to date with rules and regulations impacting payment products and services to ensure compliance
- Serves as a member of the Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Team
- Reports and tracks any unresolved issues with 3rd party payment vendors
- Compliance training is assigned to all Bank personnel based on their position with the Bank. Employees are required to complete all assigned training timely and in accordance with Bank policy.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a financial institution OR a minimum of two (2) years' experience in payments, deposit operations, or related areas including ACH, wires, checks, card payments, and real-time payment solutions.
- Accredited ACH Professional (AAP), National Check Professional (NCP), Accredited Payments Risk Professional (APRP), and/or Accredited Faster Payments Professional (AFPP) preferred
