Medical Technologist - Full Time
- Evening Shift
Lake Charles Memorial Health System invites you to apply for the Medical Technologist, Full Time, Evening Shift.
Responsibilities and Duties- Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure.
- Verifies instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments and documents data.
- Records on instrument logs any repairs, replacement, and maintenance needed of equipment.
- Conducts chemical, hematological, microbiological, immunological, serological, and immunohematological analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, spinal fluid, and other specimens submitted for laboratory testing to determine presence of normal and abnormal components.
- Analyzes test results and enters findings in computer.
- Trains and supervises students.
- Performs duties according to age specific needs of patients.
- Performs troubleshooting as necessary.
- Calls critical results within established guidelines.
- Notifies Pathologist and Section leader of any unusual or unexpected findings.
- Meets established turnaround times.

Education and Work Experience- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
- Successful completion of a one-year internship in medical technology.
- Louisiana State License as CLS-Generalist;
National Certification
-MT (ASCP) or equivalent. - Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Basic computer skills; operation of equipment/instruments.
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, talking and hearing.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens and tuberculosis.
- Typical noise level moderate in work environment.
- Requires mental competence, alertness, dexterity, accuracy of physical movements; clear, concise speaking abilities; accurate hearing is essential; visual acuity is a must; stability of emotional makeup is essential.
