As a Patient Access Specialist, you will register, schedule, and perform related processing duties for all patients served by the respective clinic. You will use Practice Management and EMR systems to handle patient information and maintain administrative records.

• Obtain precerts for all testing scheduled at Lake Charles, DeRidder, or Sulphur offices.
• Obtain precerts for all procedures/testing scheduled at LCMH, WCCH, BMH, and HVC.
• Work with the nurse practitioner/physician on denied testing/procedures to coordinate peer‑to‑peer reviews.
• Keep a logbook with all procedure authorizations.
• Obtain retro authorizations as needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge and training in medical terminology, keyboarding, and computer skills preferred.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Office preferred.
• Previous experience preferred in scheduling.
• Computer literacy required.
• Broad range of administrative and technical skills in the healthcare environment.
• Ability to impact activities in other work areas frequently and contribute across multiple work areas.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and can work independently.
• Provides feedback to assist the decision‑making process.
• Works well with others.
• Documents detailed information in patient chart.
• Has listening skills to maintain cooperative associations.

• Experience with pre‑authorizations is a plus.
• Requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to deal with stressful situations and conflict resolution.
