Job Overview
Louisiana Bridge Builders (“LBB”) is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.

Position Purpose and SummaryThe MOT Superintendent is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by coordinating and overseeing the daily operations of staff involved in implementing and maintaining traffic controls.
LocationThis position is based in Lake Charles, LA.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) for onsite Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) activities.
- Coordinates with the MOT subcontractors onsite.
- Prepares the MOT reports for the Company, Louisiana Department of Transportation (LADOTD), and Calcasieu Bridge Partners (CBP).
- Schedule a meeting with the MOT/O&M Manager to establish the traffic control timetable, planning, and detours.
- Attend meetings with Subcontractors and police crews operating within project boundaries to ensure that work is conducted safely.
- Perform weekly site safety inspections.
- Review Traffic Control Plans and LADOTD Standard details to ensure alignment with the work scope and prevailing field conditions.
- Engage in communication by conducting meetings and addressing matters of concern (such as pavement markings, signage, highway helpline, and road conditions) with stakeholders, striving to resolve issues within a reasonable timeframe.
- Develop both short-and long-term work plans for crews.
- Ensure that pavement markings and highway signage under the district's jurisdiction meet or exceed the minimum levels of service.
- Monitor the condition of markings and signage and provide recommendations on replacement schedules and methods.
- Input data into the LADOTD notification system as required.
- Manage inventory control by maintaining an adequate overstock rate as required.
- Ensure sufficient stock levels to prevent interruptions in the supply of long-line, hand message signage, and other materials.
- Lead project and departmental-level Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) meetings.
- Interact with project stakeholders as necessary.
- Operate during standard working hours to organize and complete tasks within established deadlines.
- Keep track of tools, parts, and consumables, ensuring critical spares are available to avoid operational interruptions.
- Prepare and submit daily activity report.
- Hire, motivate, and lead a high-performing team through coaching, top‑tier talent retention, and directed recruiting efforts.
- Supervises team, including training, providing work direction, problem‑solving assistance, reviewing performance, recommending salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, and terminations.
- Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner through written and verbal communications in all interfaces with customers/public, fellow employees, vendors, etc.
- Ability to use appropriate computer programs (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite) which includes having proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt and learn as programs and processes change.
- Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach a goal.
