Regulatory Compliance Specialist
The Safety Manager is responsible for leading, developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and environmental programs across two manufacturing facilities. This position provides hands‑on safety leadership to ensure safe working conditions, regulatory compliance, effective employee training, and continuous improvement of the organization’s safety culture.
The Safety Manager will work closely with plant leadership, supervisors, Human Resources, employees, and corporate leadership to identify and control workplace hazards, investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, state, and local requirements.
This is a multi‑site position requiring regular presence and active involvement at both manufacturing facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Safety Program Management- Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve company safety policies, procedures, and programs for both manufacturing locations.
- Ensure consistent safety standards and expectations are established across both facilities.
- Maintain required written safety programs, including but not limited to:
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Emergency Action and Fire Prevention
- Confined Space
- Respiratory Protection
- Hearing Conservation
- Powered Industrial Trucks
- Crane and Hoist Safety
- Machine Guarding
- Fall Protection
- Hot Work
- Contractor Safety
- Review programs regularly and update them based on regulatory changes, operational changes, incidents, and identified hazards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety‑related regulatory inspections and inquiries.
- Coordinate and participate in OSHA inspections and other regulatory visits.
- Maintain required OSHA records, including OSHA 300, 301, and 300A documentation.
- Monitor regulatory changes and communicate applicable requirements to management.
- Conduct periodic compliance audits at both facilities and develop corrective action plans for identified deficiencies.
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct required safety training for employees at both locations.
- Maintain accurate records of employee safety training and certifications.
- Ensure new employees receive appropriate safety orientation and job‑specific safety training.
- Coordinate refresher and annual training as required.
- Work with supervisors to ensure employees understand and follow established safety procedures.
- Provide supervisors and managers with coaching and resources to effectively address safety concerns within their departments.
- Lead or assist with investigations of workplace injuries, illnesses, property damage, near misses, and other safety incidents.
- Conduct root cause analyses and identify appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Track corrective actions through completion and verify their effectiveness.
- Review incident trends across both facilities to identify recurring hazards and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with Human Resources and management on workers’ compensation cases and return‑to‑work activities as appropriate.
- Evaluate workplace injuries and illnesses for OSHA recordability.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and observations throughout both manufacturing facilities.
- Identify unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors, and opportunities for risk reduction.
