Quality Engineer
Actalent

Actalent seeks a Quality Engineer responsible for integrating new products into production through the NPI process. Key duties include anticipating technical difficulties, reviewing customer requirements, identifying risks, examining electronic instructions, gathering production floor feedback, improving processes, refining documentation, and providing training.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize analytical problem‑solving skills to identify root causes of quality issues and collaborate with production personnel, engineering, suppliers, and customers to prevent recurrence.
  • Work closely with Production and Engineering to evaluate and select new equipment and processes, employing Poka‑Yoke techniques to ensure high‑quality product delivery.
  • Participate in 5S and lean initiatives to continuously improve processes.
  • Analyze quality data from Aegis (Manufacturing Database) to identify trends and problem areas, resolving issues to minimize rework.
  • Develop and maintain effective process controls, including statistical techniques for key characteristics.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for manufacturing efficiencies and reduced labor costs.
  • Enhance work instructions and procedures for personnel and equipment to eliminate rework.
  • Assist in training personnel according to the training schedule and maintain training records.
  • Ensure timely completion of internal audits to improve the Quality Management System and maintain quality‑related certifications.
  • Lead meetings with engineering, production, and management to align teams toward achieving high‑quality builds, inspiring action through confident leadership.
  • Accept other responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in quality engineering, quality assurance, root‑cause analysis, and quality control.
  • Familiarity with IPC-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems and formal problem‑solving methodologies such as RCA and 5 Whys.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to read and understand customer drawings and specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Lean and Six Sigma knowledge, including Statistical Process Control and Design of Experiments.
  • Understanding of SMT/PTH/PWA techniques and automated assembly equipment programming is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and technical procedures.
