Technical Project Manager – Platform Release

As a Technical Project Manager (TPM) – Platform Release, you will be a focal point to work with stakeholders, development teams, and external development resources to develop the electronic residential smart locks and coordinate the cadence of mobile application, cloud, and firmware OTAU releases that support our residential smart lock platform.

The role focuses on continuous integration and improvement of the platform rather than simply new product delivery. TPM will work closely with the NPI TPMs, engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless, reliable, and predictable release execution.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • (25%) Work very closely with the Product Marketing and Engineering teams to understand project requirements, scope, efforts and manage the release plan with prioritized features and requirements
  • (20%) Coordinate cadenced releases for mobile, cloud and OTAU firmware updates including translating technical details into clear, actionable communications across the cross‑functional team
  • (10%) Support the technical team to identify a technical architecture/solution that meets the projects requirements, complete feasibility studies when needed and drive alignment on trade‑offs and gaps.
  • (10%) Work together with the NPI TPMs to align platform release schedules with new product launches, ensuring dependencies are well‑managed
  • (10%) Address roadblocks, conflicts, requirement changes and priorities with the appropriate stakeholders and represent the technical team
  • (10%) Facilitate team‑level and leadership level discussions to resolve scope, dependencies, and release timing
  • (5%) Collaborate with operations and manufacturing teams to align releases with plant readiness and broader business needs
  • (5%) Support Agile ceremonies while working within a hybrid framework (Agile + Waterfall) appropriate for product and platform release cadence
  • (5%) Proactively identify and communicate risks, track mitigation plans, and maintain RAID logs.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
  • Other duties as required by supervisor.
Education and Experience Profile
  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical / Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 – 9 years of experience in Technical Project Management, ideally in software, cloud, mobile in IoT environment
  • PMP, Scrum Master, and/or agile certified practitioner certification are a plus
  • Familiarity with OTAU release mechanism, mobile app updates, and cloud platform integrations
  • Experience in consumer electronics, smart home, or IoT product ecosystems.
Required Skills

The ideal candidate has technical project management skills with electronics consumer products experience that include embedded software/firmware, mobile APP and cloud. Also, the candidate has successfully managed external resources and development partners to deliver products.

  • Hands‑on experience managing technical projects from concept to production that involve firmware, mobile apps and cloud
  • Ability to review technical specifications at a high level must be comfortable with technical jargon and translating for business and operational stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating across cross‑functional teams (engineering, operations, product, manufacturing).
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing project management tools to manage projects and provide status of each project to stakeholders – such MS project, JIRA, confluence, etc.
  • Experience in software products development life cycle (Agile and hybrid methodology)
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral and able to cater message to different technical or non‑technical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills – can lead both technical and non‑technical teams
  • Experience in identifying and managing external resources and 3rd party developers locally or overseas
  • Strong sense of ownership and drive to resolution
