OverviewAs a Field Heavy Equipment Technician at Quinn Caterpillar, you will diagnose, service, maintain, and repair Caterpillar® heavy equipment and other machinery used across construction, industrial, and rental operations. Technicians at Quinn work with advanced tools and diagnostic systems to keep machines productive, safe, and operating efficiently. CompensationStarting wage will depend on experience and education: $38.91–$59.23 per hour.
Responsibilities- Travel to customer job sites to diagnose, service, maintain, and repair heavy equipment and machinery.
- Work independently from a fully equipped service truck.
- Apply mechanical skills to ensure equipment is up to date and customer satisfaction.

- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on Caterpillar® equipment and related machines.
- Use specialized tools and diagnostic software to complete quality repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance and emergency services to minimize downtime for customers.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair orders, and inspection documentation.
- Communicate professionally with customers and service teams about equipment issues and repair plans.
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures at every job site.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as Cat Electronic Technician (ET) and mechanical test equipment.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while solving mechanical challenges on site.
- Continually develop skills through training and hands‑on experience.
One‑year certificate or Associate’s degree from a community college or technical school;
Minimum five years of CAT dealer experience and ten years heavy equipment industry experience, or equivalent education and experience.
