Supplier Quality Engineer
Location: Lake Forest, IL (initial 3 months on-site in Fort Wayne, IN)
Travel: ~50% (domestic + international, including Taiwan)

Job SummaryThey're seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to support both supplier development and internal manufacturing quality for complex defense components, including launchers and projectiles. The SQE will play a key role in building, implementing, and maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS) across supplier and internal operations.
This role involves strong cross-functional collaboration with Sourcing, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Logistics teams, along with hands-on engagement at supplier and production sites.
Primary Responsibilities- Act as the primary quality liaison for suppliers and internal manufacturing.
- Implement and maintain QMS systems for multiple product lines.
- Lead supplier qualification audits and ensure readiness for new product launches.
- Provide hands‑on quality support and drive continuous improvement at the Fort Wayne facility.
- Conduct audits and issue resolution visits to Taiwan‑based suppliers.
- Develop and monitor KPIs for supplier and internal quality performance.
- Lead CAPA reviews, QMS audits, and systemic improvement initiatives.
- Train teams and suppliers on quality tools (8D, SCAR, FMEA, PPAP, MSA, Control Plans, etc.).
- Partner cross‑functionally to launch and sustain reliable QMS processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Proven experience implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 or equivalent QMS standards.
- Ability to travel extensively (including international) and relocate temporarily for training.
- Experience with defense or aerospace products is a plus.
- ASQ certification (CQE, CMQ/OE, or CSQP) preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills with cross‑functional influence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of quality engineering experience, including supplier and in‑plant roles.
- Must have or obtain a valid passport within 3 months of hire.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and pass E‑Verify.
