Location: Lake Forest, IL – 100% Onsite – Local candidates only
Period: 07/01/2024 to 02/07/2025, with possibility of extension
Hours/Week: 40 hours
Rate: $90 - $100/hour (Hours over 40 will be paid at Time and a Half)

* Scope of Services:**

The SAP Data Engineer / Data Modeler Developer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the SAP data models to accelerate strategic decision-making in the RMDx business. This role requires a background in application integration and database application development, with a focus on utilizing IBM’s Info Sphere suite for ETL development. The Developer will work with the team to maintain data pipelines and schedules across multiple technologies, ensuring timely, trusted, and targeted data delivery to data value consumers.

What You’ll Work On:

• Establish the fundamentals for reporting by developing scalable data models to enable self-service reporting, accelerated insights, and improved actionability.
• Create source-to-destination data mapping for data engineers to develop pipelines.
• Partner with IT Functional leads to ensure capability design, build validation, deployment, and steady state support.
• Build and execute data models using SAP data and other sources as needed for reporting business analytics in Power BI.
• Resolve and/or facilitate resolution of problems, including identifying causes to prevent re-occurrence. Identify and resolve business issues, escalating issues when appropriate.
• Troubleshoot production issues and conduct root cause analysis.

Responsibilities:

• Design and map technical specifications per business requirements.
• Communicate structure of models to visualization engineers and business analytics team.
• Design and build Power BI certified semantic models and reports.
• Provide hypercare support and issue resolution.
• Work with the teams to maintain data pipelines and schedules across multiple technologies, ensuring timely, trusted, and targeted data delivery to data value consumers.

Experience:

• 5-10 years of experience in application development and support with a background in application integration and database application development.
• 1 to 3+ years of experience using a full life cycle methodology for ETL development utilizing IBM’s Info Sphere suite, Data Stage, Quality Stage, Meta Data Workbench, and Info Analyzer.
• Strong PL/SQL and SQL skills with the ability to develop database views and tune query performance.
• Experience designing the ETL meta data layer, ETL/Interface architecture, and security to ensure the solutions align with industry and SJM standards.

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a relevant field, or equivalent years of experience.
• 4+ years of experience in IT as a Data Engineer/ETL developer.
• 4+ years of technical experience with SAP, with at least 2 years of experience in SAP BI.
• Strong SAP data modeling experience.
• 4+ years of experience developing ETL pipelines in tools such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Data Flow, Event Hubs, Event Grids, and Informatica.
• 3+ years of experience with Databricks and/or Spark.
• Strong architecture, integration, data governance, analytics, and development background.

Skills and Competencies:

• Ability to digest, analyze, and think through concepts from engineering through implementation and support.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work through ambiguities.
• Strong business acumen, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to a functional audience.

Preferred:

• 2+ years of SAP experience in the Manufacturing and/or Supply Chain area.
• 1+ year of SAP experience in the Order to Cash and/or Finance area.
