The salary range for this position is $34.50 - $55.20 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Eligibility for Sign‑On Bonus

Internal employees and rehires who left Northwestern Medicine within 1 year are not eligible for the sign‑on bonus. Exception: internal employees who are new graduate RNs seeking their first nursing position are eligible.

External candidates must have 1+ year of RN experience in order to qualify for the sign‑on bonus.

Responsibilities Relationship to Patient / Family and Community
  • Perform a comprehensive assessment on all assigned patients as evidenced by completed documentation.
  • Communicate changes in patient’s condition promptly.
  • Utilize appropriate nursing diagnosis and data from the assessment to derive realistic outcomes and document them as measurable goals on the plan of care. Modify the care plan, if indicated, to identify realistic patient goals.
  • Identify and prioritize patient needs and/or nursing diagnoses for patients and document.
  • Collaborate with patient, family, and other members of the health care team when planning patient care and document accordingly. Assess patients with regard to discharge planning and make appropriate referrals as necessary.
  • Evaluate and document the patient response to nursing interventions and alter the plan of care as necessary.
  • Assure completed discharge instructions, medication reconciliation and provide information to patient/family regarding the use of the patient portal and other pertinent resources.
Patient Education / Ethics and Diversity
  • Support patient/family/spiritual/cultural needs when assessing the patient and family needs for teaching; identify the patient’s learning level and readiness, and document education record.
  • Utilize the teach‑back methodology for advancing patient education about medication side effects and new medication education.
  • Utilize and distribute Krames for patient education / clinical condition.
  • Utilize culture vision as a resource in care planning and delivery.
  • Treat patients, families and staff in a caring manner with respect and dignity.
