This RN leads the unit, overseeing daily operations, staff, and nursing care, utilizing a staff-focused leadership model.

- Coordinates and monitors patient care to ensure patient safety.
- Collects, analyzes and organizes patient care data for the unit.
- Oversees compliance with regulatory standards.
- Adapts services to reflect patient diversity.
- Oversees documentation of key critical patient safety elements.
- Ensures initial admit orders are received by end of shift.
- Demonstrates knowledge of staffing requirements and consults with manager when variances are anticipated.
- Oversees accurate completion of daily charges to ensure unit revenue.
- Contributes to cost effectiveness interventions (LOS, HPPD, OT, staffing).
- Oversees staff scheduling per unit and PCS guidelines.
- Documents staffing information and justifications in Optilink each shift.
- Checks staff timekeeping and oversees compliance with time and attendance policies.
- Oversees documentation of occurrences and reports to nursing leadership and risk management as appropriate.
- Ensures compliance with patient life safety standards.
- Oversees accurate accounting of unit equipment.
- Demonstrates effective oral, written and listening skills with staff, physicians, patients and families.
- Keeps all parties informed in a timely manner and understands chain of command accountability.
- Completes leader rounding and staff huddles consistently.
- Provides input to staff meetings and conducts staff huddles on shift.
- Collaborates with educator and manager to orient new staff.
- Participates in team and committees, demonstrating willingness to give 100%.
- Keeps staff informed of unit initiatives and incorporates outcomes into practice.
- Ensures RN's, PC's performance as a team for timely work and uninterrupted meal breaks.
- Coordinates patient placement with Clinical Placement Nurse.
- Displays welcoming spirit and integrates students and resource team.
- Develops functional working relationships with other units and physicians.
- Promotes collective accountability for the unit/department.
- Performs weekend leadership rounding and assists Clinical Manager as needed.
- Contributes to annual employee performance evaluation.
- Conducts formal staff rounding consistently, following manager frequency.
