Job DescriptionThis Registered Nurse (BSN) delivers high‑quality, relationship‑based care as part of the Nurse Partners at Labor and Delivery (Mother‑Baby). Under department leadership you will consistently reflect NM’s mission, vision and values, comply with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act, our Code of Ethics and all regulatory standards.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive assessments and document findings.
- Communicate changes in patient condition promptly.
- Develop and modify evidence‑based care plans and measurable goals.
- Collaborate with patients, families and the health‑care team.
- Support discharge planning, medication reconciliation, and patient education.
- Deliver patient education, including teach‑back and use of Krames.
- Promote ethical practice, call for ethics consults when appropriate.
- Implement evidence‑based interventions and participate in quality improvement projects.
- Administer medication safely using barcoding and other safety protocols.
- Maintain a safe, infection‑preventative environment and participate in unit safety initiatives.
- Lead shift teams, precept new staff, and serve as a resource for colleagues.
- Ensure appropriate resource utilization through EMR orders and charging.
- Use electronic tools and participate in CEOC activities to optimize record‑keeping.
- Engage in professional development, certification, and leadership opportunities.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current Illinois RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- National specialty certification
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Analytic abilities
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with plan to obtain BSN within 3 years of hire
