Compensation & SalaryThe salary range for this position is $34.50 - $55.20 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Internal employees and rehires who left Northwestern Medicine within 1 year are not eligible for the sign‑on bonus. Exception: internal employees who are new graduate RNs seeking their first nursing position are eligible.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive assessment on all assigned patients as evidenced by completed documentation.
- Communicate changes in patient’s condition promptly.
- Utilize appropriate nursing diagnosis and data from the assessment to derive realistic outcomes and document measurable goals on the plan of care.
- Identify and prioritize patient needs and/or nursing diagnosis for patients and document.
- Collaborate with patient, family, and other health care team members for planning patient care, including discharge planning and appropriate referrals.
- Evaluate and document patient response to nursing interventions and adjust the plan of care as necessary.
- Ensure completed discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and provision of information regarding patient portal usage and other resources.
- Support patient/family/spiritual/cultural needs, employ teach‑back methodology, utilize educational resources, and treat all with respect and dignity.
- Maintain safe medication administration practices, promote patient safety, and participate in unit safety and quality initiatives.
- Oversee patient care technicians, serve as a resource and role model for new staff, and participate in peer evaluation and unit huddles.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, charging of supplies, and engagement in value‑based initiatives.
- Utilize electronic health record fields effectively, participate in continuous technology improvement activities, and support unit and system advancements.
- Attend internal professional development offerings, obtain specialty certification, and maintain professional competencies.
- Required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). - Required:
Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license. - Required:
Basic Life Support certification. - Preferred:
National Certification in area of specialty. - Preferred:
Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and analytical skills. - Preferred:
Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years of first day of employment in a clinical nurse role.
