Salary: $38.50 – $61.60 hourly (placement within the range is based on experience, internal equity, and union agreement rules).

- Ensure appropriate assignment of care based on staff competency and patient acuity.
- Coordinate and monitor patient care to ensure patient safety.
- Collect, analyze, and organize patient care data for the unit.
- Oversee staff compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure adaptation of services to reflect demographic factors.
- Oversee documentation of key critical elements for patient care and national patient safety goals.
- Ensure initial admit orders are received by the end of shift.
- Ensure compliance with the staffing matrix and consult manager when variances are anticipated.
- Oversee accurate completion of daily charges for appropriate revenue.
- Support unit cost‑effectiveness initiatives.
- Oversee staff scheduling per unit and PCS guidelines.
- Document staffing information in Optilink each shift.
- Check staff timekeeping and ensure compliance with time and attendance policies.
- Oversee documentation of occurrences and report to leadership and risk management.
- Ensure compliance with patient life safety standards.
- Oversee accurate accounting of unit equipment.
- Demonstrate effective oral, written, and listening skills with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
- Keep all appropriate parties informed in a timely manner and understand the chain of command.
- Complete leader rounding on assigned staff routinely.
- Provide input and assist with organization of staff meetings and conduct staff huddles.
- Collaborate with educator and manager to ensure appropriate orientation of new staff.
- Participate in unit and PCS teams, work groups, and/or committees.
- Inform staff of unit initiatives and incorporate team outcomes into practice.
- Ensure RN’s, PC’s work as a team to complete work on time and take uninterrupted meal breaks.
- Coordinate patient placement with Clinical Placement Nurse.
- Display a welcoming spirit and integrate students and resource team.
- Develop functional working relationships with other units and physicians.
- Promote an atmosphere of collective accountability for the unit/department.
- Perform weekend leadership rounding and assist Clinical Manager during the week.
- Contribute to annual employee performance evaluation and be present for reviews.
- Conduct formal staff rounding and follow up with new employees as directed.
- Contribute to minor disciplinary action and provide feedback for staff development.
- Demonstrate ability to coach staff effectively.
- Participate in interview process for shift candidates.
- Use retention strategies to recognize and reward staff.
- Serve as Qualified Observer for annual staff competencies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and EBP integration.
- Oversee environment of care and regulatory readiness.
- Is a shift leader accountable for evidence‑based patient satisfaction tactics.
