Grooming Salon Leader RoleAs a Grooming Salon Leader, you will lead salon operations and your team while delivering expert grooming services to our valued customers' pets. Your passion for people and pets will ensure a positive experience for our partners and exceptional care for every pet.
Job SummaryThe Grooming Salon Leader’s primary purpose is to manage salon operations and the grooming team. The role involves delivering high levels of customer satisfaction, fostering a positive work environment, driving salon performance, and coaching groomers. The leader also performs expert-level grooming services, prioritizing the safety and comfort of pets in our care.
Essential Job FunctionsKey responsibilities include:
- Oversee day‑to‑day grooming salon operations, including scheduling, inventory, staffing and workflow optimization.
- Recruit, hire, train and supervise a team of groomers, providing coaching, feedback and performance evaluations.
- Create and manage grooming schedules that optimize salon capacity and productivity.
- Monitor salon performance metrics such as revenue and customer satisfaction and develop action plans for improvement.
- Collaborate with store management to achieve sales targets and salon objectives, and drive growth and profitability.
- Provide exceptional customer service to pet parents, offering grooming recommendations and timely resolutions to inquiries.
- Remain current on grooming industry and best practices to enhance skills for yourself and your team.
- Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircutting, styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning and gland cleaning.
- Maintain a clean and safe grooming area, including disinfecting tools and performing regular cleaning tasks.
- Ensure safety and well‑being of all pets, monitoring for signs of discomfort or injury and reporting concerns to pet owners and management.
- 2+ years as a professional groomer or completion of a technical grooming training program.
- Strong leadership skills; 1‑2 years of salon management or related experience preferred.
- High‑school diploma or GED preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Expert knowledge of dog breeds, grooming requirements, health issues and behavioral traits.
- Advanced proficiency in breed‑specific cuts, styling techniques and grooming standards.
- Genuine passion for animals and commitment to a career in pet grooming.
- Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills in situations.
- Results‑driven focus on salon productivity, performance and growth.
- Excellent attention to detail with high grooming quality standards.
- Capable of handling pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy.
- Availability for full‑time work (minimum 35 hours per week) including weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.
The role is primarily indoor and requires frequent bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 lbs, standing for long periods and working around heights or on a ladder for cleaning duties. The environment can be noisy and wet, and involves direct contact with pet parents and dogs.
