Position: ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER + EVENT COORDINATOR

ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER + EVENT COORDINATOR

At Salt & Kai, we’re building a team where work feels meaningful, creative, and joy-filled. We’re looking for a right-hand teammate to assist in keeping the shop running smoothly, lead with warmth and energy, and bring our event calendar to life.

What you’ll do:

This role blends store leadership, customer engagement, and event coordination. While keeping the shop running smoothly during your shifts, you’ll also use your time to move key projects forward that help grow Salt & Kai’s presence and impact.

Your primary focus + day-to-day:

  • Maintain the store — keeping displays beautiful, shelves stocked, and engaging with customers to encourage sales and create a welcoming experience.
  • Assist with our Pop-In Creative Studio — provide customers with printed instructions and materials for creative activities, answering any questions that arise to ensure a smooth, self-guided experience.
  • Manage the team schedule for store associates to ensure smooth coverage.
  • Coordinate workshops and vendor partnerships, reaching out to other small businesses and makers to collaborate and build brand/location awareness.
  • Oversee private event inquiries and bookings, ensuring every detail is managed from start to finish.
  • Manage event ticket sales and collect customer feedback to continually improve.
  • (Please note, these event coordination responsibilities do not mean you have to be present at every event!)
  • Develop in-store promotions tied to local happenings and marketing initiatives to drive awareness and revenue opportunities.

Secondary projects may include:

  • Assisting with inventory management and merchandising.
  • Refreshing seasonal and window displays.
  • Supporting other special projects as needed to keep the store vibrant and inspiring.

You love being around people, have a sharp eye for details, and can keep things organized even when life gets busy. You’re the type who sees something that needs to be done and jumps in — all while keeping things light, friendly, and fun. You’re self‑motivated, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative, with both creative vision and practical follow‑through. You have previous retail sales experience and understand the customer shopping journey.

You follow current market trends, enjoy collaborative networking and stay up‑to‑date on local events.

The details:

  • ~20 hrs/week to start (weekday mornings/days + some weekend hours) -> create your own schedule!
  • Competitive starting pay + sales/event incentives
  • Opportunities to grow as we grow
