• Salary $32.35 - $45.64 DOQ; earning potential $87,000-$123,000 depending on shift assignment and Step Plan placement.

First-year (Step
1) officers have an earning potential of approximately $87,000 with shift differential, built-in overtime, and holiday pay included. Special Teams and/or Special Assignments may increase earning opportunities.

• Employee is considered a “trainee” when hired as an out-of-state lateral officer until AZPOST Certification is achieved (approximately 3-4 weeks, depending on testing availability).

• Pre-Approved Testing Components (invitation only): 500-yard run, obstacle course, chain link and solid fence, body drag
• Writing Assignment: topic announced after successful completion of physical agility testing
• Oral Board Interview: followed by background questionnaire and background investigation
• Polygraph examination may be scheduled for finalists
• AZPOST Certified Officer Applicants: must hold active AZPOST Peace Officer Certification; out-of-state lateral officers may require AZPOST via waiver

• AZ State certification as a Police Officer (or eligible for AZPOST)

• High school diploma or GED (criminal justice coursework or military service experience preferred)
