Overview
The Cook role at London Bridge Resort involves preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to restaurant standards and recipes. The Cook is responsible for high-quality food preparation, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and collaborating with kitchen and front-of-house staff to provide an exceptional dining experience for guests.
Responsibilities- Food Preparation:
Prepare and cook food items according to recipes and quality standards; ensure all food is cooked to the correct temperature and presentation standards; perform basic prep tasks such as chopping vegetables and cutting meat. - Kitchen Operations:
Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies; maintain a clean and organized work area, including sanitizing surfaces and equipment; follow proper food handling and storage procedures to ensure food safety; assist with opening and closing duties and kitchen setup for service. - Quality Control:
Monitor food quality and consistency to meet restaurant standards; adjust recipes and techniques to improve quality; ensure portions and garnishing align with restaurant guidelines. - Collaboration:
Work closely with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff to coordinate orders; communicate effectively to ensure timely and accurate order delivery; assist with training new kitchen staff as needed. - Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels and inform the Executive Chef of low stock items; assist with receiving and storing deliveries; minimize waste by using ingredients efficiently and following portion control guidelines.
- Previous experience as a cook or in a similar restaurant or hospitality role is preferred.
- Familiarity with various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 lbs.
- Food Handler’s certification or equivalent is required.
- Culinary training or certification is a plus.
- Professional appearance and demeanor; dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Positive attitude and willingness to assist with various tasks as needed.
- Creative and passionate about food and cooking.
- Work is primarily conducted in a kitchen environment.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
