Brazosport College seeks to fill a full-time, tenure‑track faculty position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor within the Division of Communication and Fine Arts. We are searching for a collaborative faculty member with experience teaching theater history, theater appreciation, and introductory and intermediate acting, and in producing/directing college‑level (or above) theater productions. Reports to the Division Chair of Communications and Fine Arts.
Responsibilities- Teaches drama courses and courses as assigned in another discipline, or disciplines
- Directs and supervises all aspects of college drama productions, including, but not limited to, supervision of students and/or community workers, casting, set design and construction, costumes and stage sound and lighting, recruiting and drama scholarship program, fund raising, advertising and box office operations;
- Submits budget requests and maintains budget control.
- Prepares curriculum, including writing syllabi, develops new courses, recommends textbooks, prepares theatre for acting classes, rehearsals, and productions, etc.
- Assists in the advisement of students.
- Serves on various assigned college committees.
Able to traverse campus, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, bending, vision, hearing, and talking.
Minimum Qualifications- A master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Eighteen (18) graduate hours in drama required and eighteen (18) graduate hours in speech or English, preferred.
- Drama practicum course work preferred in addition to courses in dramatic literature.
- Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching, acting, directing, and technical theatre experience at the community college level preferred.
- Interest in alternative instructional delivery methods.
- Demonstrated ability of working with culturally diverse populations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Exceptional employment or educational qualifications may be given special consideration.
