What You’ll Be DoingPressure Relief Design Engineer provides process technical expertise on relief design to ensure that the plant is in compliance with relief design standards and codes. This role requires experience in relief design and good overall knowledge of documentation requirements. It also assists with planning and implementation of relief design work requests. The engineer will be responsible for promoting consistency, accuracy and record retention for relief valve specification and sizing.
- Check for documentation completeness.
- Compliance with standards and codes.
- Explain assumptions.
- Ensure documentation is thorough and clearly worded.
- Provide missing data for documentation forms.
- Audit the installed system to assure adherence to the design.
- Ensure consistency in relief design work processes.
- Gather information in the field.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (required).
Experience: 5+ years in Process Engineering – Relief Design.
- Experience in PRDM (Pressure Relief Design Manual) is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated use of Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills; SAP experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of API 521, API‑2000, and API‑520.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with personnel, customers, and external contractors.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 10‑15 pounds at times.
