Registrar - Westlake Freestanding Emergency Department

Responsibilities

This opportunity is full‑time at 32 hours per week, offers full‑time benefits and a convenient swing shift schedule.

Wellington Regional Medical Center is a 235‑bed acute care hospital located in Wellington, Florida. The hospital is owned by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) and serves Palm Beach County since 1986. It is accredited by The Joint Commission and emphasizes advanced technology, community service, and professional growth.

Key duties include greeting, collecting, and processing all incoming patient information to gather the necessary demographic requirements, verifying reimbursement with third parties, maintaining records, and providing accurate care. The role also requires recognizing stroke signs and symptoms, calling a stroke alert, verbalizing the stroke alert process, assigning temporary identification of patients (ED only), completing full registration upon arrival, and completing annual 1‑hour online stroke training.

The candidate will cross‑train and float to other areas or departments as needed.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in an acute care facility or related environment (preferred but not required).
• Willingness to be cross‑trained in other areas (Admitting, Business Office, ER).
• Excellent verbal and written communication, detail‑oriented and organizational skills.
• Basic computer knowledge and typing skills.
• Filing skills and familiarity with HMO/PPO contracts (beneficial).
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• AHA Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
