The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with medical providers to examine and treat patients at Mercy‑GoHealth Urgent Care. This role is responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. The RT performs and analyzes patient x‑rays, reports results to providers, and provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of centers.
Job Requirements Education- High School Diploma required.
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required.
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required.
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required (if applicable).
- Perform x‑ray services as needed.
- Under direction of clinical provider, operate x‑ray equipment for patients of all ages.
- Ensure correct patient positioning and protection during imaging.
- Assist patient transfer if needed.
- Inform technical staff of patient flow.
- Conduct patient interviews, record medical history, and confirm purpose of visit.
- Perform preliminary physical tests and assess vital signs; escalate critical cases.
- Conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed and share results with provider.
- Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files.
- Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up.
- Perform daily equipment controls, calibration, QA/QC logs, and preventive maintenance.
- Collaborate with providers to determine optimal imaging views.
- Explain procedures and ensure patient comfort.
- Position patients and equipment for optimal imaging.
- Select proper radiographic controls to capture high‑quality images.
- Maintain and clean equipment, manage supplies.
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles.
- Maintain accurate records of completed procedures.
- Verify image quality and ensure images are sent for interpretation.
- Knowledge of x‑ray procedures and protocols, anatomy and physiology, and equipment safety.
- Position patients properly for x‑ray procedures.
- Identify and correct equipment problems.
- Follow infection control and radiological safety procedures.
