This Engineering role with the Indiana Department of Transportation focuses on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Traffic Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) projects, including plan review, site visits, and construction meetings as part of the Traffic Management team. The engineer will review plans, develop operational processes, and implement TSMO strategies such as Managed Lanes, Traveler Information, Variable Speed Limits, and Ramp Metering, working both independently and alongside ITS Technicians in the field.
Keyqualifications:
- Professional Engineers license in Indiana required (or EIT/FE certification actively pursuing PE licensure)
- Valid Driver's License
- At least 4 years of professional experience in civil engineering, transportation research, or closely related field
- Extensive knowledge of civil engineering theories, principles, and highway/transportation project design
- Knowledge of AASHTO Design Specifications, ASTM Standards, Indiana Design Manual, and INDOT systems (SPMS, dTIMS, ArcGIS, WMS)
- Ability to prepare and review complex design plans and perform mathematical computations
