General
Purpose:
The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the Store and for general operations and supervision when functioning as Manager on Duty.
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment.
- Responsible for security of building, electronic surveillance checks, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups and register area.
- Removes clutter and ensures safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Responsible for customer safety including accident prevention, accident reporting and emergency procedures.
- Tests all fire alarm systems as scheduled.
Customer Service
- Treats all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect and professionalism.
- Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness and professionalism at all times.
Personal and Store Brand
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with Company dress code.
- Keeps all store areas clean, well-maintained and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
- Responsible for receiving merchandise truck when needed.
- Responsible for cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
- Helps deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor.
- Responsible for ensuring any back‑stock is secured and processed to Company policy.
- Responsible for merchandising of department including the back stock.
- Understands and complies with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions.
- Ensures Public View Monitor system is maintained properly.
- Conducts “Code 50” package inspections.
- Trains and coaches associates on cash registers, shortage control policies and other front end procedures.
- Controls retail associates’ break schedule for backups, lunches and breaks.
- Ensures all equipment is working properly and supplies are available.
- Teaches all associates the “Scan and Bag” best practice.
- Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of fitting rooms.
- Ensures all fitting room garment tags are audited and accounted for.
- Ensures go‑back compliance and merchandise return procedures are followed.
- Ensures cash pulls and bank deposits are conducted in accordance with policy.
- Responsible for payroll administration including daily punch edits and scheduling compliance.
- Other duties as assigned by Store Manager.

- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations used in retail.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC.
- Stand, walk, and move around store up to 100% of working time.
- Regularly bend at waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
