Overview
The Project Manager of construction projects for Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC includes interfacing with the project owner or agent, scheduling crews and subcontractors, communicating to the Sales/Marketing Estimators any claims and determining “as built” quantities of work performed, properly invoicing for work completed, and is responsible for building the project within the estimated budget. The Project Manager directly reports to and is accountable to the Area Manager.
Responsibilities- Supervision and participation in ensuring that contract work meets contract specifications.
- Take-offs of quantities and determination of material requirements from project plans and specifications.
- Preparation of detailed resource requirements from quantity take-offs and specifications.
- Coordination of subcontractors on jobs and maintenance of subcontractor progress.
- Preparation and submittal to owners or general contractors of schedules, material sources, claims, invoices, or other required paperwork.
- Verification of subcontractor payments.
- Collection of accounts receivable.
- Analysis of estimates versus as-built costs from the job cost system.
- Compliance with safety and environmental rules; enforce and abide by all Ajax safety and quality standards; adhere to federal, state, local, and Ajax safety and environmental rules and regulations.
- Education:
Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and five years of experience in construction management. - Licensing/Registrations: OSHA Certification, CPPR training, CQC training;
Traffic Control Supervisor Certification;
Asphalt Paving Levels 1 & 2 (preferred).
- Leadership and negotiating skills.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, methods, and techniques used in road construction.
- Ability to understand and interpret contract terms and specifications.
- Ability to conduct effective inspections for contract compliance.
- Ability to calculate figures and mathematical concepts.
- Knowledge of construction lien laws.
Field operation, asphalt plants, lab, and office environment. Ability to work days, nights, and weekends as required.
Typical Physical Demands- The essential functions of this position include sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting up to 45 lbs, carrying, pushing/pulling, and dexterity of hands and fingers; seeing, hearing, and talking.
