HR Director

Position Overview:

The HR Director will serve as a key resource for employees and leadership, providing hands‑on support across a broad range of human resources functions. This individual will be responsible for employee relations, HR administration, compliance, recruiting, and day‑to‑day HR operations. Responsibilities of the HR Director:

• Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and managers at all levels of the organization.
• Manage and address employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, performance issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
• Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment‑related matters.
• Support the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, and personnel documentation.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
• Administer and maintain the organization’s HRIS and employee data.
• Partner with leadership on HR policies, procedures, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees as needed.
• Support performance management and employee development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and organizational policies.
• Prepare and analyze HR reports and employee data using Excel.
• Assist with benefits administration and other HR programs.
• Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, policies, and the overall employee experience.
• Handle day‑to‑day HR responsibilities in a hands‑on, collaborative environment.

Required Experience/Skills for the HR Director:

• 5+ years of progressive HR experience.
• Strong HR Generalist experience with a broad understanding of HR functions.
• Strong employee relations experience with the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels.
• Experience working in a hands‑on HR environment.
• Experience with a major HRIS system.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and positive relationships throughout an organization.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee matters.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with leadership and employees.

Preferred Experience /Skills for the HR Director:

• Experience with Paylocity.
• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.
• Nonprofit or mission‑driven organization experience.
• Experience as the sole HR professional or primary HR point of contact within an organization.
• Experience supporting an organization with approximately 70 employees.
• Experience developing or improving HR policies, procedures, and processes.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field required.
