Base pay range$37.50/hr – $56.25/hr
Major Responsibilities- Interpret physician referrals and conduct speech and language evaluations of patients with speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
- Establish a written plan of care and implement individual treatments based on evaluation results, functional goals, and appropriate techniques. Monitor and evaluate outcomes, adjusting treatment plans as needed, and provide status updates to physicians and teammates.
- Identify factors affecting patients' physical and psychosocial comfort and address these needs.
- Plan for and complete patient discharge, including written home programs, patient/family teaching, community service referrals, transition planning, and ordering equipment when indicated.
- Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve optimal patient care.
- Complete required documentation per department policy and accreditation standards (evaluations, progress notes, conference reports, discharge summaries, etc.). Record patient care and progress, complete daily statistics, billing, and scheduling, and apply insurance guidelines regarding authorization and number of visits.
- Maintain site and department productivity standards, and adhere to all billing and documentation policies, procedures, and deadlines.
- Clean up after patient treatment, manage equipment, and keep the area neat. Perform manual techniques, patient positioning, and transport duties that require lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique.
- Demonstrate skill using modalities, exercise equipment, and other devices per department orientation checklist; understand indications and contraindications of modalities.
- Promote patient safety by participating in safety initiatives and following infection control measures.
- Participate in performance improvement activities aimed at identifying and resolving issues affecting patient care outcomes and quality of care.
- Manage assigned caseload, inform leadership of coverage needs, and assist with coverage as determined by department and regional needs.
- Pursue professional growth through continuing education, departmental in‑services, and professional literature.
- Orient new staff to clinical and department policies as requested. Provide feedback during coworker evaluations as directed.
- Supervise non‑licensed personnel per state and local compliance; delegate patients to assistive personnel while providing direction and ongoing supervision, maintaining responsibility for patient plan of care and goals.
- Support the student clinical education program by monitoring, observing, and giving work direction to at least one student per year unless students are unavailable.
Job Requirements Education
Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited school or educational requirements commensurate with the date of graduation; maintain continuing education requirements per state professional standards.
Certification / Registration / LicenseLicensed Speech Language Pathologist in the state of residence. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers within 90 days of hire unless otherwise determined. Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA or Clinical Fellowship Year eligibility.

- Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
- Successful completion of all competency assessments for patient care per site standards.
- Annual educational requirements for hospital‑based certifications (e.g., DNV, CARF).
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and assess patient data to identify age‑specific needs.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, and squat throughout the workday.
