This role is for the product application engineering team and involves working closely with customers and manufacturing to design and recommend products.

• Evaluate customer requests to determine if items are of Smalley manufacture.
• Demonstrate understanding of retaining ring and wave‑spring concepts and design required applications.
• Provide phone support to customers.
• Investigate customer application design requirements to verify and provide optimal product recommendations, and work with manufacturing to determine effective processes, including lead time, tooling, packaging, etc.
• Provide a detailed outline of customer requirements and obtain sign‑offs for designs.
• Interpret customer‑specific specifications such as quality specifications, materials, finishes, etc.
• Provide input on cost optimization and analyze lead‑time requirements.
• Contact customers to provide quotation information or determine action on quotations.
• Explain design concepts for drafting and manufacturing to assist with tolerance, part drawing, part layout, and design‑specific notation.
• Investigate, analyze, recommend, and authorize design changes for Smalley products.
• Perform cycle testing, installation testing, and recommend possible alternatives.
• Attend trade shows to assist marketing and sales with customer interactions.

• Completed Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering from an accredited four‑year institution.
• Proficient understanding of mechanical applications showcased.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Capable of thriving in a fast‑paced work environment.
• Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $65,000 to $75,000 USD. Actual compensation may vary based on education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. This role is bonus/incentive eligible.
