Job Summary

This position supports schools associated with Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey; the candidate must be local or willing to relocate. Licensed independent practitioners (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or Psychologist) will provide Child and Youth Behavioral counseling to service members' children and families at installations and off‑base locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide non‑medical, short‑term, solution‑focused counseling directly to eligible children and youth.
  • Conduct assessment, brief counseling, action planning, referrals, and follow‑up.
  • Consult parents, personnel, schools, and installation command on behavioral health issues affecting children and youth.
  • Deliver training and health‑and‑wellness presentations; participate in health fairs and base activities.
  • Enter activity data daily via smartphone or web application while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with community resources and linkages.
  • Collaborate with Points of Contact to assure program scope and installation/school needs.
  • Manage duty‑to‑warn and restricted reporting per DoD protocol; staff cases with Regional Supervisor/Director.
  • Participate in supervision, quality improvement committees, pilots, and other contract activities.
  • Respond to critical incidents and special requests as directed.
  • Flex schedule to respond to urgent requests as needed.
  • Provide parent training, guidance, and staff/personnel support in schools, camps, and on‑demand assignments.
  • Maintain visibility within schools and abide by line‑of‑sight protocol.
  • Communicate with Regional Supervisor and deliver regular updates on trends and issues.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Master’s Degree in a mental‑health related field from an accredited program.
  • Valid independent counseling license from a U.S. state, DC, territory, or Commonwealth.
  • At least 2 years of post‑licensure clinical experience.
  • Proficiency with technology (Microsoft Suite, internet, smartphone/tablet, video‑conferencing).
  • Ability to engage and communicate with military members and children, respond quickly to emergent situations on installations and schools.
  • Willingness to travel short and/or long distances, maneuver in rugged outdoor or uneven locations, and work in outdoor weather and other base conditions.
  • Current U.S. citizenship and fluency in English.
  • Pass a National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) clearance, Installation Records Check (IRC), Criminal Background Check, and FBI Fingerprints Check.
  • Valid U.S. state vehicle operator’s license (if required).
  • Experience with children and youth and specialty in child and adolescent development/psychology (Magellan MFLC CYB criteria).
  • Past work experience in a school setting (for school‑assigned counselors).
  • Understanding, sensitivity, and empathy for service members and their families.
  • Ability to develop trusting, helping relationships with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.

Job Requirements

Eligibility to obtain NACI, IRC, and FBI background checks, and a valid vehicle operator’s license if required. Must comply with site‑specific requirements (immunizations/vaccinations, etc.). Must be licensed in a licensed state or territory.

Salary

Minimum: $59,922
Maximum: $100,280 (based on location and individual qualifications).
