Duties
* Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Airfield Management/Base Operations.
* Oversees maintenance and operation of the airfield to ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations.
* Represents the installation for all airfield management matters at various conferences, meetings, and one-on-one dealings with local officials, other DoD components, and other Federal and State organizations concerning management and use of the airfield. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Disclosure of Political Appointments
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
* This is a key position that may require removal from military recall status if applicable.
* May be required to participate in Operational Readiness Exercises and Major Accident Response Exercises.
* Flight line driver's license and SECRET security clearance required.
* This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
* This position is "Mission Essential". May be required to work during base closures.
* This is a "Weather A" position. Member may be required to work during inclement weather.
* Shift work and weekend duty required on an occasional basis.
* Member will fulfill or assist with NCOIC, Airfield Management Operations (NAMO) NCOIC, Airfield Management Training (NAMT) duties TAW AFMAN 13-204v2 as well as Wg Airfield Driving Program Manager (WADPM) duties TAW DAFT 13-213. Qualifications Conditions of Employment Continued:
* Member selected to fill this position must possess an Air Force Airfield Manager Position certification (i.e. SEI 368) and have at least 3 years of experience executing DAFM duties. If member is hired without an SEI 368, member must complete all mandatory AFM qualification training requirements within 12 months of employee start date. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions Transportation Operations Series 2150.
SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes in maintaining, retailing, purchasing, or procurement of automotive, rail, air, bus, or other transportation equipment or services, or in the operation of a commercial transportation facility or terminal. This experience must have demonstrated knowledge Comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of federal and agency airfield management and flight planning principles, practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to the full range of airfield management responsibilities on a military installation and the relationship of these activities to the air traffic system.
The work requires considerable skill in applying this knowledge to plan and accomplish a variety of complex work assignments and/or to identify, analyze, and resolve airfield management issues or problems. Knowledge of operations, practices, and policies of airfield management and planning function to develop, integrate, and coordinate airfield management plans and programs. Knowledge of performance characteristics, capabilities, and limitations of various types of aircraft, USAF, and federal flying regulations, aircraft with hazardous cargo/am munitions, communications procedures, and other air and ground operations procedures to enable the incumbent to make appropriate decisions during management of the airfield.
