Job Summary /DescriptionWVLT is accepting applications for a full‑time meteorologist to join its award‑winning team. The ideal candidate will have meteorology experience to prepare and deliver weather forecasts and information as part of the overall WVLT News team, be able to write, edit, and shoot engaging, informative, and compelling news and weather content; develop and execute community‑interest stories regularly; consistently contribute to weather and news content on the station’s social media and digital platforms;
maintain an unequivocal commitment to accuracy, fairness, and ethics; meet daily production deadlines; and perform other duties as assigned.
- Analyze weather data and prepare detailed forecasts
- Prepare graphics to support the weather presentation
- Work a flexible schedule for severe weather and winter weather scenarios
- Collaborate with news management to design presentation style and editorial content for on‑air weather presentations
- Develop and report stories
- Prepare material for delivery of newscasts
- Post content to the website and social media platforms
- Bachelor’s degree in meteorology
- Prior experience as a broadcast meteorologist
- Strong on‑air communication skills
- Ability to work as part of an on‑air team and weather team
- Creative skill with graphic design and presentation
- Demonstrated ability to accurately forecast weather
- Proficient in social media platforms
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
