Registered Nurse responsibilities and expectations in the Endoscopy Unit.

• Participates in the preparation of the patient for endoscopy. Performs the pre‑admission assessment either over the telephone or in person, provides all pre‑admission policy requirements, delivers pre‑procedure instructions, ensures all appropriate data is in the patient’s record prior to admission, communicates abnormal or extensive medical history to the physician/anesthesiologist, and maintains communication to assure efficient movement of patients.
• Assists physician, nurse extender and/or GI tech in the procedure room. Duties include ensuring “Time Out” is completed per Center policy, providing moderate sedation under direct supervision, ensuring completeness of pathology requisitions and photographs, positioning the patient, and assisting with equipment setup and checks.
• In the PACU area, receives the patient, assesses condition upon admission and throughout recovery, participates in hand‑off communication, monitors and documents patient status, administers medications and treatments with appropriate documentation, ensures the two‑person PACU requirement, provides post‑op/discharge instructions, and discharges patients per Center policy.

This position will require availability for 10‑hr shifts.

• Graduate of an accredited School of Registered Nursing.
• Active Florida RN license.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in outpatient endoscopy, medical‑surgical unit, or GI lab.
• Current CPR certification.

• CGRN preferred.
• Must obtain ACLS certification within 3 months of employment.
