What is a Salesperson?
Entry level sales position capable of supporting the DIY business and achieving sales and service objectives. The role requires good knowledge of store systems, basic automotive and part knowledge, and the ability to source items from stores, hubs, pdq and external suppliers. It also demands an in-depth understanding of store inventory and maintenance processes. The position can be part time or full time and fleet safety certification is preferred.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Provide an excellent selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls.
- Achieve personal sales goal and help the store reach its sales objectives.
- Deliver DIY services such as battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
- Maintain store product and operational standards.
- Manage inventory processes including truck put‑away, shoot‑outs, cycle counts, back stock, and others.
- Ensure store cleanliness: floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot.
- Perform general stocking including truck stocking and back stock.
- Safely deliver parts to customers as needed.
- Basic driving and navigation ability.
- Ability to use the delivery board system.
- Friendly communication skills.
- Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and skills.
- Proficiency with inventory systems and store equipment.
- Parts and automotive system knowledge.
- Operating POS and parts lookup systems.
- Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY service.
Job Skills
- Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers and management.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs and procedure manuals.
- Use basic math accurately: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Work an assortment of days, evenings and weekends as needed.
- 2‑3 years of successful sales experience in a diverse retail environment, providing superior customer experiences.

- Pick and stage parts for customer orders.
- Pick up returns and cores.
- Drop off weekly/monthly sales flyers.
- Collect credit accounts daily.
- Maintain store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting and parking lot.
- Perform general stocking including truck stocking and back stock.
- Basic driving and navigation ability.
- Ability to use the delivery board system.
- Friendly communication skills.
- Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and skills.
- Proficiency with inventory systems (back stock) and store equipment.

The work environment requires walking or standing, talking and hearing, using hands and fingers, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Employees must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds frequently and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentEmployees typically work indoors but may occasionally be outside, exposed to various weather conditions while installing batteries and wiper blades. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, chemicals, electrical shock, explosives, and vibration is possible. Noise level is normally moderate.
