The mission of Polk County Public Schools is to provide a high quality education for all students.

This position exists to assemble, install and repair pipes, fitting and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.

• Knowledge of plumbing practices, regulations, hydraulics, and blueprint work to install and repair water systems and operate power cutting and threading machines.
• Assemble pipe sections, test for leaks, review blueprints, prepare cost estimates, plan installations, and keep detailed records.
• Perform physical tasks as set forth in the Physical Environment section of this document.

• Minimum three (3) years full‑time practical experience in commercial and/or industrial plumbing repair work under a licensed plumbing contractor is preferred.
• Knowledge of local and national plumbing codes and safety hazards.
• Practical experience in installing, repairing and maintaining pipe systems under supervision of a licensed contractor.
• Bilingual/biliterate preferred.

• High school graduation, GED or trade school completion.
• Valid driver’s license for vehicles assigned to the trade and qualification to drive a School Board Vehicle.
• Active journeyman license within the first year to continue employment.

Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines.

Requires standing for the majority of the day, ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds, occasional lifting over 50 pounds with assistance, indoor and outdoor work, exposure to weather changes and foliage, proper use of protective devices.
