PurposeAviation Material Specialists track inventory levels and verify product information. They sort and transfer goods, handle shipping and receiving of aircraft components, expendable material, and aircraft tooling. They pull material pick tickets and transfer orders to support line maintenance, control hazardous materials, prepare shipments, and maintain a current dangerous goods certification.
Responsibilities- Understand Tech Ops requirements; MEL, Deferred maintenance items, etc., to ensure aircraft reliability and readiness.
- Collaborate with Maintenance to ensure scheduled maintenance is available and pre‑picked to support operational requirements.
- Collaborate with Maintenance & Planning to develop a 7‑day forward‑looking schedule that aligns with aircraft maintenance and parts requirements.
- Streamline logistic requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels.
- Track & manage supplier discrepancies during receiving (paperwork issues, quantity discrepancies, etc.).
- Continuously improve inventory integrity through JIT concepts and first‑in‑first‑out practices to reduce spoilage.
- Process all incoming goods through receiving and confirm paperwork accuracy.
- Validate shelf‑life requirements and ensure adequate time remaining on the product.
- Process unserviceable material through repair orders and return exchanges.
- Ensure unserviceable material is returned to partners within allotted time to avoid penalties.
- Develop processes that expedite repair order handling, update records, minimize waste, and track the part from aircraft removal to AMOS update and transportation to the partner.
- Perform bin‑management functions such as cycle counts and year‑end inventories.
- Build a tracking system that ensures compliance: every part counted at least once per year, every rotatable part counted once per quarter.
- Conduct monthly shelf‑life audits to manage spoilage.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to move throughout the warehouse or line maintenance environments for extended periods (up to 10‑12 hours per day).
- Ability to prioritize and sequence multiple problems to resolve them quickly and effectively.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work outside in inclement weather.
- Must be able to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Must complete Dangerous Goods initial and recurring training.
- Possible travel for training, deployment, and/or issue resolution up to 25 % away from base.
- Must obtain a valid driver’s license.
May perform other responsibilities, as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies, changes in workload, rush jobs or technical developments).
