Summary

Develop, apply and maintain quality requirements and standards for the development and manufacture of quality products. Serve as the main quality contact in regards to part acceptability, working directly with production, sales and engineering to meet customer expectations. Working with the QA Manager and leadership, assist BTD departments in problem solving, corrective actions and internal and external quality audits. Act as a resource to train and improve operator awareness to achieve customer quality expectations and requirements.

Communicate all improvements made to ensure future estimates and processing plans are accurate.

  • Promptly report injuries for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Make regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous improvement.
  • Actively participate in a safety process or project such as the safety committee or safety inspections.
Essential Functions
  • Work with the QA Manager and leadership to ensure BTD's quality reputation and customer expectations are not compromised.
  • Participate in the design review process to ensure manufacturability of new products; review prints, customer specifications, and solid models if provided.
  • Engage Engineering, QA and process experts to improve process capability when problematic parts exist.
  • Work with Sales, the QA Manager and customers to understand customer specifications, part application, inspection methods, production processes and all other factors affecting part production.
  • Work with Sales and the QA Manager to establish working relationships with customers and ensure effective communication. Communicate in person with customers as needed.
  • Identify weaknesses in BTD processes that negatively affect part quality and contribute ideas for corrective action.
  • Participate in the corrective action process; work cooperatively with responsible areas to ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented. Lead containment activity and ensure customer relationships and BTD image are not adversely affected by quality incidents.
  • Assign SPS storyboard for major quality problems. Work with the QA Manager and problem‑solving team to complete the storyboard.
  • Create and implement customer QIPs as needed. Keep customers updated on progress and work with them on QIP terms, conveying terms to the organization.
  • Understand the process to create process flow diagrams, PFEMAs, and control plans as required for PPAP submission. Work with the QA Manager to allocate resources to assure PPAP requirements are met for customer accounts.
  • Perform audits (ISO/LPA) to validate adherence to BTD's management system; assist the QA Manager and leadership with developing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Participate in the morning MRB committee to disposition nonconforming product and in the afternoon RA review meeting to disposition RAs from the previous day.
Qualifications

Strong knowledge of BTD manufacturing or quality department experience, or previous outside experience. Strong customer print‑reading skills and part application knowledge.

Experience and Skills Required
  • At least two years of recent manufacturing production/quality experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with computer, phone, drawings and written skills.
  • Possesses skills to manage customer quality projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods and practices in metal manufacturing operations.
  • Working knowledge of a medium to heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand production blueprints and specifications.
