Description

Safety is #1 ry employee must:

  • Strictly follow safety policies, rules, and safe work methods.
  • Promptly correct or report safety hazards or unsafe conditions to their respective lead or supervisor.
  • Report injuries promptly for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Make regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

  • Promote and maintain a respectful and safe work environment where talented employees can thrive and grow.
  • Respond to questions and concerns and advise employees on resolving related problems.
  • Communicate and consult with the Leader and other shift leads throughout the department and company to plan work schedules and ensure that the work is progressing on time.
  • Assist in the training and development of employees to ensure a understanding of BTD’s values, mission, and vision.
  • Assist the Leader in employee evaluation, retention, and one‑to‑one meetings (where applicable).
  • Monitor work habits of employees and make suggestions or corrections when needed.
  • Promote and enforce company policies related to ISO standards and set an example for co‑workers by maintaining high standards of work performance, good housekeeping, and safety awareness.
  • Communicate employee concerns to the appropriate Leader.
  • Have a basic understanding of computer software such as SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook, and payroll approval, and enter near misses into the industry‑safety system.
  • Perform rounds to ensure performance expectations are met throughout the shift.
  • Understand BTD’s KPIs and conduct huddles.

Qualifications, Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

  • High school graduation (or equivalent) plus one year of technical training or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate sufficient knowledge of BTD, the ability to learn mechanics, and develop strong working relationships with co‑workers.
  • Recent related mechanical and shop experience from BTD’s different department or previous employment.
  • Working knowledge of metal fabrication machines, production processes, and related safety requirements (proper use of safety equipment and precautions).
  • Ability to understand, follow, and issue routine oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Role model of BTD’s culture for co‑workers within BTD and the community.
  • Plan, organize, and direct work in a safe, efficient, and orderly manner.
  • Maintain high levels of work performance and morale with co‑workers.

Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell. They must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment may expose employees to weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Salary Range

$27.52 – $38.56 per hour. The range is set in compliance with all state and local regulations.
