Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Colorado Construction Management Group is looking for a highly motivated Project Manager with strong heavy civil transportation construction experience. The role offers flexibility to be based anywhere in Colorado. Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring and reporting on the work executed on site by construction contractors and their subcontractors, ensuring compliance with the construction contract, and overseeing a team comprising project controls, construction inspectors, and administration staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide construction management leadership to the project team in support of the client.
  • Serve as Stantec’s lead employee on a contract providing CM oversight services to a government agency.
  • Manage a diverse group of employees and subcontractors to execute a contract.
  • Make recommendations on remedial actions for client approval; the PM does not have independent decision authority without client approval.
  • Lead health and safety, assisting with project‑specific safety plans and monitoring compliance with safety, security, and environmental requirements.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Solve complex problems using professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Collaborate within the project team, effectively communicating ideas, design issues, and solutions.
  • Prepare and coordinate project deliverables, including reports, cost and schedule reporting, specification reviews, and engineering documents.
  • Monitor contractor work for compliance with schedule, budget, technical specifications, and legal requirements.
  • Examine field conditions to support project development and completion.
  • Review contractor change requests and assist in preparing change orders or modifications.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Primavera skills desirable.
  • OSHA certification preferred.
  • Technical expertise in relevant areas of design and construction with understanding of various methods.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction management practices, costs, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, and engineering principles.
  • Highly effective at building and maintaining client relationships.
  • Understands legal design and construction requirements for public works contracts.
  • Thorough knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or another related field; non‑technical degrees considered based on experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registered in Colorado or ability to obtain within six months.
  • 10 years of experience in heavy civil transportation construction projects, with 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience with Colorado Department of Transportation and/or local agency projects as Project Engineer or Assistant Project Engineer preferred.
Work Environment

This position involves both office work and long‑term field assignments on construction sites. Office work includes extended periods of computer use while field work may involve exposure to inclement weather.
