Department Information
This is a temporary and part‑time position. Applications will be considered from residents and non‑residents of Colorado. This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies at the following locations.
Division of Youth Services – Mount View Youth Services Center
About the Division of Youth Services: The Division of Youth Services (DYS) provides a continuum of residential and non‑residential services that encompass juvenile detention, commitment, and parole. DYS is the agency statutorily mandated to provide for the care and supervision of youth committed by the District Court to the custody of the Colorado Department of Human Services. The Division operates fifteen secure facilities that serve youth between the ages of 10 and 21, who are pre‑adjudicated, sentenced, or committed.
DYS also contracts with numerous private residential and non‑residential service providers throughout the state.

Description of JobWorks with State Teacher I’s and the Principal to determine classroom needs based on lesson plans. Duties include covering classes, supervising students, supporting special education in a paraprofessional role, reporting testing commitments, and adhering to safety procedures in a trauma‑informed setting.
Maintains a secure test environment, proctors MAP, state‑mandated, and GED tests, creates testing schedules, takes and monitors tests, imports data into spreadsheets, and provides reports for MDT and IEP meetings.
Collects data for MTSS, MDT, and treatment teams, sends monthly data sheets and MTSS information to the principal and DYS Education Director, monitors attendance and grades, and maintains organized documentation.
- Classroom supervision in absence of teacher
- Troubleshoot issues with MAP test
- Determine when MTSS data is needed for reports
- Determine what information reports are requesting
- Determine level of support students may need
- Inform principal of testing commitments
- Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a field related to the work assignment.
- Two years of study at an accredited institution (equivalent to 48 semester hours) will substitute for the degree requirement.
- Tutoring knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics through a formal state or local academic assessment (e.g., ACT Work Keys) will substitute for the degree requirement, but a high school diploma or GED is required if using this substitution.
- Bilingual
- Minimum 21 years of age; no felony convictions or history of domestic violence.
- Full background investigation: CBI name check, fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, reference checks, professional license verification (if applicable), drug screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services Only), Trail check for children contact, CAPS for adults contact.
- Must list all current and previous employers in the last 10 years on the application; incomplete information may result in disqualification.
- May need to travel for training and meetings.
- Must possess a valid, non‑restricted Colorado driver’s license or a non‑restricted U.S. driver’s license within 30 miles of Colorado border; out‑of‑state license holders must obtain a Colorado license within 30 days of employment start.
- Continued employment contingent on completion of DYS Pre‑service Training Academy, Field Training Program (FTO), and mandatory annual training.
- Diana Screen® administered to all applicants seeking positions of trust with children and teens.
- Former state employees with disciplinary termination or resignation must disclose and explain why it should not disqualify them.
