Engineer In Training II - Civil

Overview

Martin/Martin, Inc. is looking for a civil engineer to join our Civil Engineering Group in our Lakewood, Colorado office. This engineer will work for multiple project managers on a broad range of project types. The position offers the opportunity to work on varied types of projects, including municipal, utility healthcare, affordable housing, educational facilities, housing developments, and much more.

Martin/Martin, Inc. is a full-service civil and structural consulting engineering firm, headquartered in the Denver area, built on experience and industry leadership since the 1940s. Our engineers develop customized structural systems to meet design requirements for new facilities and expansions. Our civil teams focus on site and infrastructure design including traffic/transportation, parking, street layout/lighting, water and wastewater utilities, stormwater drainage, circulation, paving, surveying, security issues, and other site considerations.

Our investigative engineers can provide support for existing projects, both buildings and sites, to design and implement repairs, renovations, or improvements. With nine office locations and a staff of more than 370, Martin/Martin engineers regularly perform work throughout Colorado, across the United States, and internationally.

• Use of computer design and graphics software, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Coordinate work of other disciplines
• Completes design calculations for project components
• Studies and applies building code and/or jurisdictional requirements under the supervision of the Project Manager
• Perform reference research
• Prepares details
• Prepares and writes reports
• Calculates and checks dimensions
• Provides field observation, review of shop drawings and product submittals during construction
• Work overtime when necessary

• Move inside or outside the office and on non-ADA accessible construction sites
• Remain stationary for long periods of time
• Repetitive movement on tasks such as using a keyboard or mouse
• Carry, ascend, and descend a ladder
• Identify color
• Read, communicate, and document in English
• Determine and exchange accurate information
• Occasionally move or hold equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Investigative:
  Position self in atypical environments and small, confined spaces

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum
• Proficiency with Civil3D
• Has passed FE Examination
• 2-5 years’ experience

• Relevant Intern experience
• Knowledge or proficiency with Storm
  
  CAD, Flow Master, Water
  
  CAD, Auto Turn
• Knowledge of building and material design codes
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Self-motivated and able to work independently for extended periods of time
• Strong written, technical, and interpersonal skills
• Construction field experience
• Can manage small projects through design
• GPA of 3.5 or higher
