Bridge Inspection Regional TEC Lead – WSP USA, Mountain/Pacific Region

Develop and lead the Mountain/Pacific Region Bridge Inspection Team, driving business development and technical leadership across transportation projects.

Your Impact
  • Develop and implement Business Development plans for bridge and other infrastructure inspection projects in addition to working on a variety of structural engineering projects with a focus on transportation structures.
  • Obtain and utilize data and client relationships to identify projects and understand the capital programs of clients including the Departments of Transportation and other agencies in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
  • Evaluate projects and capital programs to identify key pursuits and implement capture plans.
  • Support the department’s senior engineers and managers.
  • Organize business development efforts through active engagement with clients to grow business and marketplace share in the Mountain/Pacific Region.
  • Manage project delivery of medium to large-sized transportation projects including technical, budget and schedule responsibilities and oversight.
  • Conduct business development in conjunction with regional BD & marketing staff by establishing or continuing relationships to secure backlog and ensure future growth.
  • Serve as Technical Lead for the Local Office TEC Services.
  • Manage and review structural engineering projects including the scientific evaluation of the condition state, function and load‑carrying capacity of bridges and their components compared to original design states or current standards.
  • Analyze and load‑rate existing bridges (vehicular and rail) and structural systems.
  • Perform structural inspections of bridges and transportation structures (vehicular, rail and transit facilities), identifying and prioritizing repairs.
  • Conduct Asset Management review and implementation.
  • Prepare and review technical reports.
  • Prepare qualification packages, technical and cost proposals along with presentations for pursuits.
  • Supervise and provide professional development for local office staff, including mentoring, training, coaching and performance reviews.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are

We are seeking a proven leader who consistently delivers high quality, government‑targeted work while fostering internal collaboration.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 12+ years of relevant post‑education experience in bridge design, construction, inspection or other bridge‑related work.
  • PE License in at least one of the states in the Mountain/Pacific Region.
  • Advanced proficiency with structural engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project‑related issues.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Broad‑based, hands‑on experience in structural engineering with an emphasis on bridge inspection projects/programs and familiarity with local clients.
  • Advanced proficiency with technical computations and calculations involving engineering principles, plans and specifications, and factual comparisons to appropriate regulations.
  • Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to mid‑level to senior‑level team or project members with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively, persuasively and tactfully with employees at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, prioritizing responsibilities in a pressure work environment.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, regulators, and company‑wide staff.
