Tetra Tech's National Energy Practice is growing. We are adding a Senior Engineering Project Manager and Seller/Doer to expand our energy practice and support projects from concept to completion in a dynamic consulting environment. With decades of national experience, Tetra Tech offers technical knowledge and a strong understanding of energy development. From planning, siting, evaluation and permitting to design, operation and maintenance, Tetra Tech supports clients in developing energy projects from concept to completion.

Successful candidates have a strong technical background and demonstrated leadership experience with energy projects focusing on commercial, utility, and distributed‑generation scale solar PV, battery energy storage, or transmission. This strategic candidate will develop and nurture client relationships, respond to client opportunities, and work with multiple Tetra Tech resources to support project execution across a variety of energy project types and services.

The Seller/Doers will be involved in client business development, selling and providing engineering services that support the development, design, construction, and operation of energy projects. Services may include feasibility studies, design, and compliance support. Ideal candidates have existing client relationships and a proven track record of winning work within the energy market. They lead by example and understand team responsibilities based on prior roles.

This is a full‑time, salaried, exempt position. It is hybrid and remote‑eligible.

Your Role
  • Work with local office, account managers, operations and market leads to expand existing client accounts.
  • Develop, sustain, and grow new energy clients including utilities or developers.
  • Support a team focused on energy engineering project development and support.
  • Participate in client marketing and business development, including proposal development, technical presentations, trade show attendance, client meetings, and marketing material development.
  • Collaborate nationally to identify and develop project teams.
  • Work closely with Ops Manager, Energy Initiative Leads, and other leaders to deliver safe, quality, profitable, sustainable projects and services.
  • Serve as Senior Project Manager or Technical Advisor: manage technical projects, engage clients to identify new opportunities, prepare proposals/estimates, establish approaches, and direct teams.
  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, jurisdictional, safety standards, practices, and codes.
  • Provide leadership for project teams, building and motivating members to meet goals and milestones.
  • Lead and manage federal/state permitting for complex projects.
  • Provide strategic guidance on navigating complex challenges.
  • Oversee efficient management of permitting tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations and permit requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including agencies, internal teams, and external organizations.
  • Have knowledge of engineering design for energy projects from pre‑construction through IFP/IFC.
  • Act in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work safely and report health and safety incidents.
  • Additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably graduate degree in engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, with more preferred, in account management, business development, engineering design, and permitting.
  • Existing client relationships in the energy generation market and proven track record of winning new work.
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of planning, permitting, design, and construction of energy facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of state permitting processes.
  • Proven success leading project teams and motivating members.
