Position Overview
This position is open only to Colorado state residents.
Entry-level Watch Center Analyst. Assigned to the CDPS 24/7 Watch Center, housed in the DHSEM/CIAC in Lakewood. Provides investigative support to CDPS policy makers and partners while performing intelligence analysis tradecraft.
Key Responsibilities- Watch Center Inbox Monitoring
- Perform basic analytical tasks for tactical and analytical information.
- Utilize intelligence community tradecraft methods and tools for information analysis and intelligence development.
- Develop law‑enforcement work‑ups, gather information for trend analysis, write basic intelligence bulletins (in partnership with other analysts), and access classified documents.
- Perform other assigned duties within the scope of the position’s analytical skills.
- Phone line support / State Emergency Operations Support
- Serve as the primary training analyst for Watch Center staff.
- Compile and disseminate special Watch Center reports, including the weekly summary product and tasks related to the Terrorist Screening Center.
- Staff all 24/7 hotline(s) within the CIAC, receiving and making calls from the public or law‑enforcement, and collaborate with other state agencies to obtain necessary information.
- Intake, analyze, disseminate, and provide dispositions for all reported hotline calls.
- Provide relevant resources and information, and collaborate with other state agencies.
- Provide pre‑disaster support to the State Emergency Operations Center training and exercise program (up to 5% of time); during a state‑declared disaster, provide operational support to the State Emergency Operations Center as directed.
- Additional duties may include updating Watch Center policies, providing SAB products, representing the Watch Center at special events/meetings, and assisting with command post duties as directed.
- Situational Awareness / Liaison
- Compile, analyze, and disseminate information and intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources.
- Promote information sources, request and document confidential information, coordinate inter‑state and intra‑state intelligence, exercise independent judgment, maintain liaison and intelligence exchange, and use electronic and technical support systems.
- Dialogue with individuals via telephone or email to provide requested information, respond to questions, or seek information.
- Assess unfolding events and determine the appropriate method and message to relay to leadership personnel within CDPS, using professional judgment to choose appropriate alert tools.
- Intelligence Analysis
- Use intelligence community tradecraft methods and tools for information analysis and intelligence development.
- Develop law‑enforcement work‑ups, gather information for trend analysis, and write basic intelligence bulletins in partnership with other analysts.
- Other duties within the scope of the position’s analytical skills.
- The core business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- On‑call availability is required during incidents, state‑declared disasters, or to cover the supervisor/on‑call rotation for the CIAC.
- Four (4) years of demonstrated professional experience working in a field closely related to criminal justice or law enforcement involving dispatching, information gathering, analysis, and customer service.
- OR
- A combination of related education and experience equal to four (4) years in the same field.
- Experience or knowledge of gun control laws.
- Previous law‑enforcement or related analytical training.
- Experience working with multi‑jurisdictional law‑enforcement.
- Previous crime analyst experience or support of criminal investigations.
- State of Colorado experience.
- Successful completion of an extensive background investigation including reference checks, a polygraph examination, and fingerprint‑based criminal background check.
- Must be a Colorado resident at the time of application.
- Must be able to independently complete any travel required for the position.
- Position may require work during unexpected or unusual hours to perform essential or emergency services without delay or interruption.
- Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to be on‑call as needed during an incident or state‑declared disaster and to cover supervisor on‑call rotation for the CIAC.
