Summary
The GIS Analyst II supports the Division of Resource Integration and Services (DRIS) by producing accurate geospatial data and mapping products that help document trust lands, right‑of‑way encumbrances, and other assets. This role focuses on hands‑on mapping, parcel fabric support, data migration, and quality assurance within an ESRI environment. The analyst contributes to Fee‑to‑Trust processing, cross‑agency mapping efforts, and the development of dashboards and tools that help DRIS deliver modernized geospatial services.
Compensation& Benefits
Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000

Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Map legal land descriptions from TAAMS, including parcels, tracts, rights‑of‑way, leases, and related encumbrances.
- Support migration of Land Area Code (LAC) data into the ESRI Enterprise Parcel Fabric and assist with parcel fabric workflows.
- Create dashboards and dynamic views to support project tracking and geospatial decision‑making.
- Assist in the Fee‑to‑Trust process and collaborate with the Land Description and Validation Request (LDEV) team.
- Apply analytical and cartographic techniques to solve recurring geospatial data issues, verify completeness, identify missing information, and ensure compatibility across platforms.
- Administer geospatial databases and carry out quality control and assurance processes within the ESRI parcel fabric environment.
- Partner with federal agencies, Regional Geospatial Coordinators, and BIA divisions on interdisciplinary mapping efforts.
- Develop and maintain metadata that meets BIA data standards for all new digital spatial datasets.
- Document procedures that lack established SOPs to strengthen consistency and knowledge transfer.
- Support creation of standardized mapping and application templates.

Skills and Qualifications- Experience interpreting legal land descriptions, rights‑of‑way, and lease information.
- Working knowledge of cartography, geography, natural resource data, and geospatial database principles.
- Ability to identify interrelationships within GIS data and apply appropriate database design concepts.
- Proficiency with the ESRI suite (ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise, Parcel Fabric) and Smartsheet.
GOV or similar platforms. - Ability to develop and maintain accurate metadata.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of technical and program stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- Prior experience with parcel mapping, land records, ESRI Parcel Fabric, or trust land datasets preferred.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work EnvironmentWork may be performed remotely or at the DRIS office in Lakewood, CO. Remote employees are supplied with required IT equipment. This role works closely with federal and contractor GIS specialists and must follow applicable security, data protection, and safety policies.
Physical DemandsRoutine office and computer based work.
Clearance/License RequirementsMust be able to obtain and maintain a federal government background check and clearance.
Required to complete FISSA (Federal Information Systems Security Awareness) training and annual recertification.
