The Substation P & C Lead is responsible for leading small teams of engineers and designers to support a client’s substation project. The group lead provides technical direction and supervision of a project, assists in client communications, project proposals, and reporting, and supports the substation department manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Technical direction and supervision of a group of engineers, designers and technicians.
  • Establish work assignments and review project performance to ensure efficient, cost‑effective utilization of staff.
  • Promote and assure quality on all projects and work performed by the Substation P & C Group.
  • Assist project or program managers in scoping and estimating projects, developing fee and scope proposals.
  • Assist project or program managers in managing budget hours, project cost, and resource schedule.
  • Perform technical oversight and coordinate checking / review of deliverables and other project documents.
  • Identify training needs for staff and budget, plan, coordinate, and conduct training as required.
  • Select, develop, train and retain engineers, designers and drafters within the group.
  • Continuous performance evaluation and coaching of staff and provide feedback to the group.
  • Conduct group meetings with staff as required to communicate department and company objectives.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within group and ensure staff incorporates safe work practices into all activities.
  • Approve timesheets and authorize overtime, vacation, and indirect and overhead activities; may also approve expense reports.
  • Work with project manager to identify methods to improve project execution, work processes, and procedures to continually improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.

  • Aptitude for developing a strong working relationship with business unit management, group leads, and staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and select team members for specific projects based on skill sets of individual staff members.
  • Willingness to develop, promote and comply with Mesa safety requirements.

Salary Range

$81,665.75 - $

The expected compensation is a range determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, and qualifications of the candidate, internal equity, work location, and hiring department’s fiscal resources.
