Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 2 years of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).
• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Candidates must have a Colorado license or compact license (required for submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.
• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.
• Anyone who worked as Part-Time at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.
• Anyone who worked as Per Diem at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.
• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Unit Details:

Patient population includes heart failure (CHF), pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations, and general medical-surgical patients.

RNs are not required to titrate drips.

Common titratable and/or set-rate drips include analgesics for pain, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control.

Phillips telemetry is centrally monitored off the unit, and RNs are required to be competent in reading strips.

Moderate oxygen needs are common.

Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4/5 on days and 1:5/6 on nights.

Shift & Scheduling:

Self-scheduling and block scheduling are available.

Full- and part-time employees are expected to self-schedule 6-9 weekend shifts per six-week schedule, aligning with department needs, unit staffing plans, and equitable distribution among all staff.

Holiday work is required.

Call or standby requirements are determined by the nurse manager.

Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote.

Floating Requirements:

Floating is determined by the nurse manager and department needs; the clinician may be asked to float into any other acuity level, including ICU (taking low-acuity holds within the clinician’s skill set), PCU/Stepdown, and  an extreme need, the clinician may float within Zone 3.
