Overnight Doctor of Emergency Veterinary Medicine

Evolution Veterinary Specialists, Inc. – Lakewood, Colorado. Salary: $/yr – $/yr (based on experience and skill level).

We are a privately owned, AAHA‑accredited specialty and emergency hospital located at the base of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Our state‑of‑the‑art facility includes a 2,500 sq ft ICU, a four‑suite surgery center, an on‑site blood bank, specialty procedure suites, a full imaging center with CT, and cutting‑edge technology such as 4D echocardiography, fluoroscopy, laparoscopy, and laser therapy.

Your Role as an Overnight Doctor of Emergency Veterinary Medicine

As a vital member of our Emergency team, you’ll manage overnight hospitalized patients and diagnose and treat urgent and emergency medical cases. You will collaborate with Specialty DVMs to provide well‑rounded patient care unique to each patient’s needs, educate team members, and communicate clearly with clients.

  • Maintain care for hospitalized patients.
  • Update clients regarding patient status and treatment plans.
  • Explain medical options and financial responsibilities.
  • Collaborate closely with the medical team, client service representatives, and administrative staff.
  • Lead initiatives that elevate patient care, streamline operations, and strengthen hospital culture.
Requirements
  • Colorado Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) license.
  • Registration with DORA.
  • AVMA PLIT insurance.
  • DEA license.
  • 1+ year experience in veterinary emergency care.
Preferred
  • Internship trained or 3+ years of experience in veterinary emergency care.
  • RECOVER certification.
  • Experience with inpatients, surgery, and endoscopy (plus but not required).
Schedule

Full‑time Overnight ER DVMs work an average of 10 shifts over a four‑week rotation, equaling approximately 130 shifts per calendar year. Shifts vary and may include holidays, weekends, overnights, and on‑call as needed.
