- Provide public safety to protect buildings, building contents, and all equipment from unauthorized usage, fire, theft, or disturbance.
- Conduct security patrols of the Lakewood and Arvada campuses and all College buildings and facilities on foot or by other means (e.g., unmarked patrol car, bicycle) and provide stationary security post duties as assigned.
- Patrolling and Call Responses:
Provide customer service by enthusiastically providing information and services. - Investigations and Reporting:
Provide initial response to emergencies and incidents on campus and complete initial investigations to determine disposition. Write complete, accurate and timely reports to record campus incidents and document investigations. Originate and file written reports using computer aided reporting systems. Properly report and track incidents for the supervisor to include in federally mandated Clery reports. Work with law enforcement to preserve evidence in incidents that may be criminal in nature. - Enforcement:
Control the flow of vehicle and pedestrian traffic on campus property. Enforce all College rules and regulations. Temporarily detain and restrain individuals when necessary and escort or call law enforcement as required. Issue campus parking tickets and trespass notifications as appropriate. - Equipment Maintenance and Use:
Exercise proper care and maintenance of College owned or leased equipment. Maintain proficiency with safety and security systems and required tools. Maintain certifications as determined by the College and state law.
Residency Requirement: This posting is only open to residents of the State of Colorado at the time of submitting your application.
Minimum QualificationsExperience Only: Two (2) years of work experience in security, campus safety or law enforcement as the primary function of the job. Part time experience will be pro-rated. Do not use SEE RESUME statements on application.
OR
Education and Experience: College, university or non-correspondence business school coursework from an accredited institution in Law Enforcement or similar field may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis. A copy of your transcript verifying the required credits must be received by the Final date to receive applications. Redact your personal identifiable information on your transcript.
Highly Desirable: Strong oral and written communication skills; experience with diverse groups; ability to determine appropriate rules and regulations; attention to detail; excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Necessary Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver7s license; must be certified in CPR/AED/First Aid at time of applying; must pass post-offer background, physical, agility, and drug tests; must be 21 years of age; must be trained to use taser, pepper spray, handcuffs, and ASIST within six months of appointment and provide documentation. Felony or certain misdemeanor convictions may disqualify.
