The Customer Service and Sales Representative is the friendly, knowledgeable voice of American Van Equipment. This relationship builder is primarily responsible for serving as the day-to-day customer contact for questions related to products, order requirements and status as well as other aspects of the supplier/customer relationship. Working closely with, and providing support to the Sales and Operations Departments, to ensure accuracy of purchase orders, availability of product and timely processing of all orders.

Responsibilities
  • Primary point of contact for existing and potential customers
  • Effectively communicate on the telephone to gain insight into customer needs while entering customer detail
  • Determine customer requirements and expectations to recommend specific products and solutions
  • Communicates with all individuals whose involvement impacts customer communications and satisfaction
  • Tracks shipment status of customer orders
  • Resolves product or service issues by clarifying customer needs, determining cause, selecting and explaining with detail, and implementing best solution
  • Communicates with freight carriers regarding customer orders
  • Handles inquiries made via email, website, and/or chat
  • Works closely with showroom customers as well as scheduling installation work
  • Communicates with warehouse manager on customer pickup orders
  • Maintain customer records by updating needed account information
  • Prepares and sends electronically quotes for existing and future customers
  • Captures needed detail and collaborates with key management personnel involving special price requests that support fleet, muni and large volume opportunities
  • Sends order acknowledgements and composes letters to existing customers and future prospects
  • Quotation follow-up
  • Assimilates customer credit information and provide to the accounting department
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Preferred experience in retail customer service, sales or related experience and/or training

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization in person, on the phone, and in writing
Computer Skills

Physical Demands
  • The employee must have adequate hearing and visual acuity.
